  • Today, I experienced the Taste of Tacoma for the first time.
Surprising...yes...I know.  Especially considering I'm a native of Tacoma.

But more than that...I ran into a great old friend from my Baker Bulldog days.
My best friend from middle school was there with her hubby and they are currently 4 months pregnant.  Congratulations!
I haven't seen her since high school...and I think about her all the time.
No contact info or anything.  Yet, low and behold...there she is!
    I love you Nerisa!

Saw many, many other people.  Anna Park and her husband with her in-laws; Kyong C. with her family; etc.

awesome weather + yummy food + old friends + new friends = GOOD TIMES

  • Doug and I took a ride on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train June 1st.
It was pretty interesting.  We were in the midst of a murder mystery and so there was much drama.  On the way back from the Columbia Winery, everyone had a chance to solve the mystery.  There were prizes for the person who actually solves the mystery and also for having creative solutions.  Doug and I submitted one together, and we won one the creative prizes.

A mini sheriff's badge and finger cuffs - aka mini handcuffs.

Doug bought me the wireless keyboard and laser mouse I've had my eye on for the past few months.  Such a nice guy...great guy...

    Lovin' the weather these days!!!

  •           As the day came to an end, she knew the time had come to close the office.  Going through her usual routine, she collected the garbage bags from each desk, shoving one into another, and then collecting them into the larger bag at her desk.  To make more space, she lifted the bag and shook it, but there was a peculiar sound of metal on metal.  After pausing a few seconds to think of what it could be, she continued on with her work.
When the clock struck five, she put on her coat and slung her purse on her shoulder.  She grabbed the garbage bags, threw then into the dumpster, then headed straight to her car.  As she reached into her purse to take out the keys she realized they weren't there.  She must have left them in the office.
With all the lights off, she cautiously opened the door, wondering if her boss had already set the alarm.  Not a sound.  Making her way to her desk, she surprised her boss, who thought everyone had already left.  She explained her keys were missing and proceeded to search the drawers and desktops.  Nothing to be found.  She must have dropped then outside.
While she retraces her steps to the garbage bins outside, her boss takes a look around the cars in the parking lot.  Suddenly, a thought enters her mind and she begins to think of the possibilities that she might be right.  Without any luck, her boss heads toward the dumpster and she says, "I think they're in the garbage..."  Shocked, he replies, "in the garbage?  Why would they be in there?"
They look into the newly emptied container and find the bag she threw in just minutes before.  It was at the bottom.  He goes into a nearby store, borrows a walking cane, and fishes the bag out of the garbage.  As he pulls the white bag out, the sound of metal tapping the edge of the dumpster resounds.  She points to a corner at the bottom of the bag and hopes her keys might be there.  As her boss rips open the bottom of the bag, her keys fall out onto the wet cement.
With a look of surprise and relief they laugh about the situation and she heads to her car and goes home.  During her drive, she thinks about how her keys had gotten into the garbage bag in the first place.  The only explanation is, when she walked into the office that morning, she must have put her purse down, kept the keys in her hand, and then tossed them into the garbage.

Yes, I supposed that's what happens when you're up late the night before, reading a book, and end up running late for work the next day...at least, that's what happened to me...

  • this is going to be a good year...

  • I was in a hurry for work one morning, so when I left my apartment, I hopped in the car and took off.  Within seconds, my feet were cold and I knew I had a pairof socks in my trunk, so I decided to pull over real quick to put them on.  As I'd digging through my trunk, a young woman walks up to my car door, looks at me and sayd, "You wanna hop into the trunk while I drive?"

Immediately, I thought this girl is trying to steal my car...we'll see about that.  So my response?

"Okay..." and I climbed into the trunk, and continued putting on my socks.  By the time I' finished, the girl was driving slowly, considering the trunk was still open.  I closed the trunk and found the small latch that allows me to lay the backseat down and pull ed myself into the backseat of my car.

Frightened, the girl looked in the rear-view mirror and asked me how I got out of the trunk.  I told her "Get out of my (thinking if I should use a bad word...then decide that to make my point, I will) f-ing car."

She pulled over and I realized I know who she is.  "Do you even know who I am?"
The look on her face changed and I know she remembered me.  She explained that she'd seen me pull my car over to get something from the trunk a number of times and thought she'd take advantage of it.  As I left her on the street corner, James Chung who suddenly happened to be sitting in the passenger seat never said a word.

Next thing I know, I wake up.
    What a crazy dream...the point?

    • Always wear your socks out the door.
    • Never pull over to dig through your trunk.
    • Know your car inside and out.
    • Try not to use unnecessary words.  I felt so guilty cussing - even in my dream.

Why James was there, I have no idea...
